I’m originally from a small town outside of Flint, Michigan. I earned my Bachelor's in Family Life at Central Michigan University (Fire Up Chips!!!). Through college, I played rugby and spent my summers working at The Fowler Center for Outdoor Learning, a camp for people with developmental disabilities. After teaching a few years, I returned to college full time at Bowling Green State University and earned my Masters degree as an Intervention Specialist with a Reading endorsement. I have been blessed to attend many training and professional development programs in the areas of SMILA, Orton-Gillingham techniques (Morphology) and Lindamood Bell. These techniques have enhanced how I teach all children to achieve to the best of their ability.
In 2009, our family moved to Memphis, and we immediately fell in love with the city. We take advantage of everything our town has to offer, and are the perpetual tourists of the area. We enjoy concerts at the Levitt Shell, the zoo, museums, parks, festivals, and exploring downtown. Recently, we have finally ventured a bit further, and have expanded our tourism to other areas of the region. As our children have grown we are now invested in watching their many pursuits. Our son enjoys playing football, wrestling and lacrosse and our daughter is a competitive dancer. Our lives and schedules are full!
When our son began to attend Kindergarten at SFA, we immediately fell in love with the school and community. Both of our children were Timberwolves which has enabled them to be prepared for high school at MUS and Hutchison. We truly believe that SFA is the greatest school in the area, and it is because of the staff and families. SFA is more than a group of students, parents, teachers, and administrators; St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School is home.
